Cash 4 Trash: A Thrift Market Where Good Stuff Gets a Second Chance
There is something wonderfully satisfying about finding something you love for a fraction of the price — especially when you know you are giving an old item a new life.
That is exactly what Cash 4 Trash Thrift Market is all about.
On Saturday, 10 October 2026, Harvest Table Bistro, between Ceres and Wolseley, is turning its garden into a lively day of buying, selling, swapping and reimagining.
And yes, you are invited to bring the whole family.
What exactly is thrifting?
Thrifting simply means buying pre-loved or second-hand goods instead of always buying new.
It could be an old piece of furniture, a book, clothing, crockery, toys, garden treasures or something completely unexpected.
The beauty is that the thing you no longer need might be exactly what someone else has been looking for.
And there is another bonus: second-hand is still first class.
By buying pre-loved goods, we keep useful things out of the waste stream, reduce unnecessary consumption and give perfectly good items another chance.
At the same time, you are supporting local sellers, small entrepreneurs and people in our community who are turning unwanted things into a little extra cash.
Come to buy, sell, swap or simply browse
Cash 4 Trash isn’t meant to be a serious, organised shopping experience.
It is a garden thrift market.
Come and wander around. Dig through boxes. Look for bargains. Chat to sellers. Find something strange that you absolutely didn’t know you needed.
Or bring along your own unwanted treasures and turn your clutter into cash.
Buy. Sell. Swap. Reimagine.
That’s the idea.
And there’s plenty more happening
You won’t have to leave when you’ve finished shopping.
Harvest Table Bistro will be serving food throughout the day, including pizzas and Greek lamb on the spit.
There will be plants and garden goodies, music, plenty of parking, and a pool and jungle gym for the kids.
So while the grown-ups hunt for bargains, the kids can run around and enjoy the garden.
In other words, you can make a proper day of it.
Why we love the idea
Thrifting isn’t just about saving money.
It’s about changing the way we think about the things we already have.
That old chair can become somebody’s favourite chair.
A forgotten crockery set can become someone’s new collection.
A pile of clothes at the back of your cupboard can become someone else’s new favourite outfit.
And something that looks like “trash” to one person might be exactly the treasure another person has been waiting for.
Good stuff. New stories. Brighter days.
That’s what Cash 4 Trash is about.
